Therapeutic Assessment of Need
Life these days is so busy, we're juggling hundreds of things at once, we're constantly over-stimulated by social media and targeted advertising and we have access to such a huge amount of contradictory information that it's often hard to know what to do for the best.
Particularly when it comes to supporting our children, we do everything we can to support them, teach them and protect them but sometimes their struggles are quite complex. It helps to look back over young people's experiences, their transitions or stressors and development to unpick what could be causing difficulties for them now.
A Therapeutic assessment of need includes gathering a full developmental history, a timeline of events and transition in a child's life, information from your family/support network, their experience of school and health, the young person's own wishes and feelings and an observation of attachment and family dynamics. I will then consider all of this information and produce a report with recommendations for supporting your child/young person that my involve a Therapeutic Intervention, changes in the home, suggestions for school etc. This report can be shared with anyone who works with your child to support them and your family.
